The Bedrooms
At
the top of the stairs, visitors pass through the archway
where a left turn will lead them into The Yellow Bedroom.
The wallpaper here is copied from a piece of Italian silk
damask used in the 19th century redecoration of the house.
The substantial mahogany four poster bed is of a style fashionable
circa 1820 and is dressed in a printed cotton chintz design
of the same period. The Yellow Dressing Room is the next
room.

Returning past the stairs to the other end of
the corridor brings the visitor to the French Bedroom, furnished
in the style of a 19th century interpretation of Louis XVI,
where the wallpaper is also taken from a fabric used in the
house in the 19th century. The large Lit à la Polonnaise
is another piece of furniture commissioned from York craftsman,
Dick Reid and designed by Martin Stancliffe.
The French Dressing Room next door is furnished
in the style of Louis XV.
