Popular too for it's shape and open spaced branch habit which makes it a good tree to decorate.For a full and healthy foliage these trees are best grown in good soil however this can also mean that they grow too fast and hence spindly. The growth rate of most other species can be manipulated by pruning and shearing but not so with Nordmann which responds erratically to this treatment. Recent research into chemical and mechanical growth inhibiting techniques have proven successful and growers will soon be selling much better quality trees of this species.The best trees for seed collection come from Russia.
